Ever wonder what happens on the mountain after the lifts close and the last rider heads in for the night? The answer: a whole lot of work.
Our grooming crew clocks in just as most guests are sitting down to dinner. Armed with powerful snow cats, they systematically work every designated trail — smoothing out moguls, filling in worn patches, and creating that perfectly corduroy surface that makes morning runs feel like magic.
Snowmaking is another critical piece of the overnight operation. Our team monitors snow depth across the mountain and fires up snow guns wherever coverage needs a boost. On the right nights — cold temps, low humidity — we can lay down several inches of machine-made snow in just a few hours.
Lift mechanics also perform nightly safety inspections on every chair and gondola. Cables are checked, bullwheels inspected, and mechanical systems tested so every ride up the mountain is as safe as possible.
By the time the sun comes up and the first patrol sweep begins, the mountain has been completely reset — fresh, safe, and ready for another incredible day. Next time you’re carving perfect corduroy at 9 AM, give a quiet thank-you to the overnight crew who made it happen.
